Account Manager & Technology Specialist
Before joining BIS Benefits in 2007, Carla Liff was immersed in a career that has proven to be strategic groundwork for understanding the needs of clients requiring unique employee benefits solutions.
For 15 years Carla was employed with the Association of American Railroads (AAR) in Washington, DC. As the ARR worked with elected officials and leaders in Washington on critical rail transportation issues, Carla progressed through the organization serving in various capacities. Her eye for detail, keen relationship skills, negotiation prowess, and business acumen led her into key roles such as Senior Accountant, Senior Administrative Officer, Technical Planning Specialist and Project Management Coordinator. As a member of the management team she grappled with the merging of the public and private sectors engaged in business and commerce.
Building upon her technology skills at the AAR, Carla joined a software company in Annapolis, Maryland. As a Sales Engineer, she not only demonstrated her highly praised interpersonal skills but she also identified, provided and presented technical solutions for clients. Upon moving to Greater Atlanta in 2002, Carla continued utilizing her accounting skills via employment with a small business and in volunteer capacities.
It’s this blend of accounting experience with both large and small organizations, technology expertise, analytical mindset and management skills that has prepared Carla to understand — and respond to — the business needs associated with employee benefits and insurance. Her familiarity in these sectors allows her to identify with the financial constraints organizations face and the need they have to comply with regulations and guidelines. As a result, clients find Carla to be an Account Manager who not only can pull together unique solutions for building an employee benefits plan, but who can advise them on how employee benefits fit within their overall organizational goals.
Carla’s technology background is certainly evidenced in her role at BIS Benefits. As a Technology Specialist, she leads the team in securing and implementing a growing list of technology products that enhance the benefits experience for clients. Carla brings to her clients technology solutions that save time, energy and money. These solutions include enrollment tools, education, and communications solutions, including enrollment and web-based employee portals. Carla received her formal education at Northern Virginia Community College and West Virginia Wesleyan College. She resides in Alpharetta, Georgia, with her husband and two children. She enjoys cooking, reading, spending time with family and serving as a volunteer in the middle school ministry of NorthPoint Community Church.
